April - May // Baby Ghosts

Through April and May we had the delight to be part of Cohort 6 in the Baby Ghosts Fund’s 8 week Cooperative Foundations intensive! As a brand new workers co-operative games studio, this program couldn’t have come to us at a better time as we've begun forming our foundational governance and structure.

The Baby Ghosts team, our peer supports and our fellow cohort participants helped guide us through conversations about where our values stand and what care and responsibility look like to us as a group.

As our time in the intensive came to a close at the start of June we were left with an arsenal of governance documentation to reference and a new community to continue building the equitable industry we all deserve. It was an incredible experience and couldn’t recommend it enough to anyone considering the workers co-operative model!

Thank you Jennie, elienne, Kaitlyn, and Eliot for all of your support! ♡

June // Toronto Games Week

At the start of June we dove right into our first Toronto Games Week as a studio to debut our horror narrative game There will be Beauty!

We joined the folks at GAMERella! in their tent during the TGW kick off where some of our team even got to play a BIG game on the BIG screen!

Next we met back up with Baby Ghosts to talk everything workers co-ops at the No Bosses Round Table hosted by Baby Ghost Alumni:

We wrapped up our week with Ash K and the folks at Kitten Cup Studio for their Indie Games Emporium and Tea Party where we got to sling some zines and stickers with a bunch of other amazing Ontario studios.

It was a whirl wind week and despite the exhaustion, we are filled with inspiration from the amazing games scene in Toronto! We’re so excited to keep making games!

June - July // There will be Beauty Wrap Up

The rest of June and July was dedicated to wrapping up some loose ends to bring There will be Beauty to it's completion!

As our first game developed as a studio, TWBB holds a really special place in our hearts and we're so honoured for the reception it's received through its development. ♡ Its adventure has included:

A screenshot from the visual novel There will be Beauty where an ornate frame on either side of the image show a red cloaked woman facing a skeletal figure slumped on the floor stirring a red fleshy soup. The text in the center of the image reads "Which is the kinder way to kill a dying legacy before its memor can be deformed beyond recognition? Quickly or Quietly."

With this, our team is now headed full steam into the development of our next major project that we are very eager to share with you soon! ⋆˙⟡

For now, thank you for taking the time to read our first Void Mail newsletter!

With love,
